12/8 - IT'S GREEK TO ME...AND EVERYONE ELSE
On Saturday, December 14th, Zach will join the Pancyprian Choir as a featured singer in their 18th annual Christmas concert. The concert will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church beginning at 7PM, and will feature a large selection of traditional Greek and Cypriot holiday music, as well as several more familiar standards.

 

 

11/27 - LINCOLN CENTER!
On January 4th, 2014, Zach will kick off the new year by reprising the role of The Wolf in Seymour Barab's opera for children "Little Red Riding Hood" at a special performance in Lincoln Center's David Rubenstein Atrium.

 

11/18 - AMAHL
On December 7th, Zach will be joining Kyrenia Opera in a performance of Giancarlo Menotti's classic holiday opera favorite, "Amahl and the Night Visitors." The opera will be presented at Terrace on the Park in Flushing Meadows Park, Queens. All information on the location and tickets can be found here.

 

10/3 - "THE FLOOD" RETURNS!
Zach will be appearing once again in a concert performance of beloved musical THE FLOOD by Peter Mills and Cara Reichel, benefiting Prospect Theater Company. Honoring the 20th anniversary of the 1993 Mississippi flood event, around which the musical is set, the concert will feature members of the 2001 original and 2006 revival casts, as well as a few newcomers. The concert will be held at the Baruch Performing Arts Center at Baruch College, 55 Lexington Avenue, NYC on October 19th at 3:00PM. 9/20 - "STIFF UPPER LIP" ENCORE
Due to popular demand, another show date has been added for "Stiff Upper Lip: Songs of the Brits" at The Duplex for Tuesday, November 5th at 7PM. As before, the show is $10 cover plus 2 drink minimum. Reservations are encouraged, and can be made hassle-free by clicking here.

 

8/28 - BENEFIT CONCERT FOR THE GREENING OF NYC
Zach will be singing in the ensemble in the upcoming final 2013 concert in the award-winning Music and Art for Green series, "9/11 - I HEAR AMERICA SINGING - SONGS OF HOPE, JOY & INSPIRATION" which will be held on Wednesday, September 11th at South Park of Tudor City Greens Park (between 41st & 42nd Streets and 1st & 2nd Avenues) at 6:30 p.m. Details available here.

 

7/28 - SPOTLIGHT AT THE SALON
To promote his upcoming show, Zach will be featured tonight (along with musical director Matthew Martin Ward) in the spotlight section of the multiple MAC award-winning open mic event THE SALON, an ongoing entertainment event in which singers, writers and musicians share their talent with each other and audience members. 6/12 - A RETURN TO THE PUZZLE
Later this month, Zach will play the role of Tom in a reading of Stanley Toledo's short play "Sea Chanty." This play and others will be presented as part of The Puzzle, an annual festival of new works sponsored by Marble Collegiate Church. All readings are open to the public, and admission is free. 5/28 - NEW YORK CABARET DEBUT
This coming September, Zach will make his New York solo cabaret debut in "Stiff Upper Lip: Songs of the Brits" at the Duplex Cabaret, in which Zach examines the legendary fortitude of the British throughout the depression and second World War via the works of Ivor Novello and Noel Coward, with musical direction by Matthew Martin Ward.   4/23 - LINCOLN CENTER LOCAL
Zach will once more dust off the opera pipes (and cape) to sing the Toreador in an abridged production of Carmen with La Piccola Opera company, in connection with the Lincoln Center Local artist concert series. Performances will be held on July 20th at the Queens Library in Forest Hills, NY at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.; additional details available here.


3/29 - "DUTY" TRIUMPHS!
The votes are in: Zach's original one act play DUTY has been awarded first place in the One Act/Short Play category of the Shawnee Original Playwrights Series, and consequently will be produced on stage at Shawnee Playhouse in January 2014. Further details have yet to be announced, but check this page here periodically for updates.

 

3/1 - STILL CRANKY
Zach has been invited back to perform once again in The Cranky Cabaret series, which will be held on March 23rd & 24th at Joria Studios, 260 West 36th Street, 3rd Floor. Contact Zach directly or email crankycabaret@gmail.com for reservations.

 

2/12 - "CLONED!" THE MUSICAL
Zach will be playing several roles, including a surly hot dog vendor, a sycophantic assistant to Sharon Stone and a pigeon monster, in the new musical Cloned! (music by Adam Spiegel, lyrics by Dan Wolpow, book by Jacey Powers) presented as part of the York Theatre's Developmental Reading Series on February 20th at 3:00 p.m. Details are available here.

 

2/4 - "...SCHERMANN SONG" GOES WORLDWIDE!
We are very proud to announce that How Do You Write A Joe Schermann Song? will be released around the world on March 26th. Viewers in the U.S., Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand will be able to view the film digitally on iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, XBOX, PS3 and several other online venues, as well a soon-to-be-announced DVD/Blue-ray disc release date. 1/27 - CONCERT
On Saturday, February 2nd at 8:00 p.m., Zach will be appearing as a guest soloist in a concert featuring Metropolitan Opera soprano Tonna Miller at ChristChurch Pelham. The concert will feature opera and musical theater selections, and will be accompanied by the ChristChurch Pelham senior choir under the baton of Maestro Jeffrey Hoffman.

 

1/31 - "DUTY" REVISITED
DUTY, Zach's original one act play, has been accepted as a finalist by the 2013-2014 Shawnee Original Playwrights Series, sponsored by the Shawnee Playhouse. Beginning on February 15th, it and other finalist plays will be read and put to vote in front of a live audience. Winners will be granted a fully staged production in 2014. 1/13 - MORE "SCHERMANN SONG" WINS!
This weekend, How Do You Write a Joe Schermann Song? had a west coast premiere at the Idyllwild CinemaFest and swept the honors, taking home the award for Best Feature Film, Best Director and Best Soundtrack. Details on these and the other award-winning films are available here.
