12/15 - CRANKY CABARET!

10/9 - "...SCHERMANN SONG" IN NEW YORK!
How Do You Write a Joe Schermann Song? will finally have its New York premiere on Thursday, November 1st at Landmark's Sunshine Cinema. Tickets are going very quickly, but can still be found here. Also, the film has been selected for the Rivers Edge International Film Festival in Paducah, Kentucky in early November. All details may be found at the official website here.

 

10/6 - "...SCHERMANN SONG" WINS IN LONDON!
How Do You Write a Joe Schermann Song? earned an encore presentation and was named Film of the Festival at the Raindance Film Festival. Reviews include: "King and Schermann have produced a fascinating treatise on talent and inspiration that is full of catchy tunes and clever lyrics..." (top UK film site Empire Magazine) and "This joyous, toe-tapping movie is a virtuoso showstopper of a musical that razzles and dazzles with the best of them." (i-flicks.net)

 

9/20 - "...SCHERMANN SONG" IN CALIFORNIA
How Do You Write a Joe Schermann Song? will have a west coast debut at the Napa Valley Film Festival in November, followed by a the Idyllwild Cinemafest in Idyllwild, California in January. Also, a special event screening will be held mid-November at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. Refer to the official film website for details.

 

9/18 - "...SCHERMANN SONG" IN WISCONSIN
How Do You Write a Joe Schermann Song? has now been accepted to the Flyway Film Festival in Pepin, Wisconsin. While the screening schedule has yet to be announced, the festival runs from October 18th thru the 21st. As they're getting so numerous that it's difficult to keep track, please refer to the official film website for all up-to-the-minute screening information.

 

9/14 - ESL FOR A NEW (KOREAN) GENERATION
Zach has just wrapped recording the voice of the "Biting, Fighting Crocodile" on an interactive audio book project entitled Little Dragon, part of a series of ESL (English as a second language) materials designed for children in Korea.

 

9/6 - "...SCHERMANN SONG" IN CANADA, EH?
How Do You Write A Joe Schermann Song? will have its Canadian premiere at the Calgary Film Festival, one of the largest film festivals in the country. Screenings will be Thursday, September 27th and Monday, October 1st; all venue details and ticket information can be found here.

 

9/4 - "...SCHERMANN SONG" ACROSS THE POND!
How Do You Write A Joe Schermann Song? will have its European premiere at Raindance Film Festival, Britain's largest independent film festival. The Raindance Festival is listed by Variety as one of the world's top 50 "unmissable film festivals." Screenings will be Thursday, September 27th and Monday, October 1st; all venue details and ticket information can be found here.

 

8/23 - "...SCHERMANN SONG" GOES TO FLORIDA
We have just been informed that How Do You Write a Joe Schermann Song? has been selected for the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival and its subsequent mini-festival on Grand Bahama Island in October. The film is scheduled for screening on Saturday, October 20 at 3:30 and Sunday, October 21 at 4:00 and 5:30 p.m. All venue details and ticket information can be found here.

 

7/2 - CABARET CHALLENGE
On July 9th, Zach will be participating in the MetroStar Talent Challenge, sponsored by the MAC Award-winning Metropolitan Room. The jury and audience-voted, elimination-round singers competition runs for seven consecutive Mondays, from July 9 through August 20. Tickets and other information available here.

 

6/16 - THE PUZZLE 2012
On June 30th, Zach will be playing the roles of Charles Dickens in Dickens Packs Her Bags and The Giant in The Giant's Garden, presented as part of The Puzzle: Marble's Festival of New Work. Sponsored and hosted by Marble Collegiate Church's Arts Ministry, The Puzzle consists of staged readings of ten dramatic pieces submitted from all over North America, and runs from June 25th-30th. Admission to the festival is free, although donations are appreciated. All details are available here.

6/5 - ENCORE PRESENTATION
We have just been informed that Big Guns has been invited for an encore showing at the Philadelphia Independent Film Festival, in which the film took home the award for Best Comedy in 2011. The screening will be at the Piazza at Schmidt's, a 5,000 seat open air venue, on Saturday, June 23 at 8:00 p.m. Check here for updates and further information.
 

 

5/9 - DEAD CENTER ON THE WATERFRONT...
We have just been informed that How Do You Write A Joe Schermann Song? is now an official selection of both the 2012 deadCENTER Film Festival in Oklahoma City, and the 2012 Waterfront Film Festival in Saugatuck, Michigan. The festivals run June 6-10 and 14-17, respectively. All information including screen times and venues can be found at the festival websites here and here.

 

4/1 - "...SCHERMANN SONG" WINS - NO APRIL FOOLING!
Last week, How Do You Write A Joe Schermann Song? premiered at the Phoenix Film festival, taking home both the "Audience" and "Breakthrough Filmmaker of the Year" awards. Congratulations to director Gary King, and thank you for the opportunity to be a small part of this beautiful film.

 

3/16 - EQUITY
As of earlier today, Zach is now a member of Actors Equity Association (AEA.)

 

2/21 - FESTIVAL SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED
The official performance schedule for the 2012 Network One Act festival has been released. DUTY will be performed in a block of four plays kicking off the festival on Wednesday, March 7th at 6PM, and then again on Saturday, March 10th at 6PM. Tickets are available here.

 

2/1 - PLAYWRIGHT!
Zach's first play, DUTY, has been accepted to the 2012 Network One Act Festival, sponsored by Paul Michael's The Network. There will be two performances during the initial round taking place from March 7th-15th, with additional performances if the play is received well enough to advance to the semi-finals. Cast list, performance dates/times and other information will be announced shortly. More information on the festival itself can be found here.

 

1/20 - NEW MUSICAL READING
Zach will be reading the role of Conor in a staged reading of Deirdre, a new musical by Michael McCarthy and Rich Buley-Neumar, presented through the 8th annual Emerging Artists Theater New Works Series. Deirdre is based on a story from the "Ulster Cycle," a collection of heroic tales of ancient Ireland. The reading will be held on March 18th at 7:00 p.m., at the TADA! Theatre.
